O.C.R. Gym Instructor Course

This gym instructor course is nationally and internationally recognised by employers in the fitness industry.

Delivery Method

Home study followed by 2 assessment days.

You can start this course any day of the year. All of your home study resources will be sent out within 24 hours. The course requires approximately 100 hours home study. We advise your homestudy to be spread over at least 8 weeks before attending your final assessment day.

Gym Instructor Course Fee

Deposit of £125 followed by 4 monthly payments of £127 OR just £595 (saving £40) if a one off payment is made. Credit card payments will incur a 2% surcharge.

The course fee is fully inclusive of: registration fees, all home study resources, unlimited tutor support and advice, tuition at attendance day(s), assessment and certification.

Gym Instructor Qualification Summary

This qualification is based on 6 units:

- Know how to support clients who take part in exercises
- Health, safety and wellness in the fitness environment
- Principles of exercise, fitness and health
- Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health (Level 2)
- Planning gym based exercise
- Instructing gym based exercise

Who should do this course?

The gym instructor training course is designed for individuals over the age of 17, who wish to become a qualified gym instructor and gain work either part or full time in a private fitness club or public leisure centre.

The award will give you the knowledge and skills required to carry out 1:1 gym inductions and write basic exercise programmes for the general population.

Although no formal experience or qualifications are required you must have reasonable literacy skills, 3 months experience as a member of a gym/health club and be familiar with the personal use of common resistance machines, free weights and cardio machines.

You also need to have the self motivation to complete a predominantly home study course.
