Q. Do I have to be young and really fit to be an
instructor? |
Age and personal fitness really is of secondary importance.
What is important is that you have the commitment, enthusiasm and
the genuine desire to learn the skills required to instruct. It
is important to remember that some of the best and most successful
fitness instructors/ personal trainers are not always the youngest
or fittest but have a genuine passion for health and fitness and
are good communicators. |
Q. O.K. so can I sign up for the Level 2 Gym Instructor
and Level 3 Personal Trainers at the same time? |
Yes and we offer a discount for doing "combined"
courses. See our fees page. |
Q. I want to start the level 2 Gym/ETM or Level
3 Personal Trainer course. Do I need to book my assessment code
now? |
| If you wish to defer booking your assessment code
until you feel ready to attend you can. Simply request this on booking.
The benefit of booking your assessment code on enrolling is that
it will help focus/motivate you to get through the home study. |
Q. Can I skip the level 2 Gym Instructor and go
straight to the level 3 Personal Trainer? |
| It is possible for some students with higher education
qualifications to bypass the level 2 qualification and start their
studies at level 3. This route is commonly referred to as ‘Accreditation
of Prior Achievement’ (APA) and awarding bodies usually require
extensive evidence of previous learning and achievement This usually
involves the submission of assignments, reports and research in
a relevant subject area. Due to the complexity of this process,
most students find it easier and more rewarding to simply complete
the level 2 qualification. Many students who select the APA route
struggle with the practical aspects of the course.
|
Q. Can I pay for my course in installments? |
Yes, you can pay for all of our courses by paying
a deposit followed by 4 or 6 installments. We also give a discount
if you decide to pay for your course in a one off payment. |
Q. Can you offer a discount two or more people book
the same course at the same time? |
Yes, if you and a friend choose to do a course and
enroll at the same time we will offer a discount. |
Q. Does everyone pass all of the courses first time? |
Bodylogic have a consistently very high first time
pass rate, around 85%-90%. Occasionally students do not pass a unit.
If this occurs you will be given advice and feedback by your tutor
on where you need to improve and be offered a resit of that unit(s).
Any training provider that boasts a 100% first time pass rate for
every course and all units may not have a rigorous assessment and
verification process in place and standards may be low. |
Q. Can I get insurance after my course? |
Upon successful completion and certification of any
of our nationally recognised qualifications you will be able to
obtain public liability insurance. This insurance will provide you
with cover for issues of professionalism in the area (s) that you
are qualified to teach. Instructors and trainers should be aware
of their boundaries of competence and should not attempt to prescribe
exercise in areas they are not qualified/competent to do so. |
Q. "Is it compulsory to join REPs once qualified? |
No it isn't. REPs is a non mandatory (optional),
self regulatory register, not a training provider or awarding body.
What employers will ask you about is that your Level 2 and 3 qualifications
(ETM/GYM/PT) are from accredited training providers from recognised
Awarding Bodies (E.g. O.C.R or CYQ). Employers will also look to
see if you have attended workshops in addition to your Level 2 /
3 qualification.
|
Q. Will I get work after the course? |
| |
Unlike many industries, the health and fitness sector is proving
to be resilient to the present economic situation.
To match the recent Government health and fitness awareness campaigns,
private and public fitness centers have increased their fitness
staffing and recruitment enormously in the last 5 years. Whereas
many other industries have been affected by the credit crunch employment
opportunities in the leisure and fitness industry have never been
better.
|
A recent survey carried out by Leisure Business,
in association with all of the major clubs, stated that "demand
for qualified instructors is at present far exceeding supply. As
a result salaries and benefits employers are offering has increased
to meet this shortage."
"A recent report by the City and Guilds, Future Earnings,
found that Personal Trainers could become some of the highest earners
in Britain, earning up to £80,000 a year by 2020 as the population
spending on leisure and fitness increases." Sunday Times. |
Q. Do I need to bring a colleague with me on any
of the assessment days? |
Bodylogic do NOT require you to bring a colleague
on assessment. The other leading UK fitness industry training providers
insist you do have to bring a colleague with you... we think this
is unfair, costly and inconvenient to you!! |
Q. "Do you have any venues in the South? |
| No, however, many of our students come from there
as well as Scotland, Wales and even Europe!!! Our courses have been
specifically designed to minimise time spent attending a venue.
Many students find that although they can access a course closer
to their home, after considering the benefits of the Bodylogic home
study system, 2 days attendance, albeit in the North West far outweighs
the inconvenience of travelling to and attending a 6-8 weekend course
nearer to them! |
